Chris Darby was born the youngest of one sister and one brother
on September 10, 1984 in Texas City, TX. He was born and raised
in Texas City, in which he still resides by his parents, Carolyn
and Mike Darby. Growing up, Chris was always very athletic and
had incredibly great genetics, in which he participated and played
a lifetime of sports such as soccer, swimming, track, football,
baseball etc. Excelling at every sport, his favorite sports, Soccer
and Swimming offered him many great opportunities to travel and
experience the nation competing against some of the top athletes,
and becoming a State Champion in Swimming and Division I Soccer
Player.
It was soccer that took him throughout high school leading him
to a soccer scholarship at Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS. This
is where it all began; where he discovered another world, a Bodybuilding
world that attracted more of Chris's interest and attention in
becoming more serious with weight lifting. Even at the youngest
of ages, Chris was known and given the nickname of Mini Schwarzenegger,
never really serious about the bodybuilding lifestyle nor lifting
weights, developed a natural muscular physique through playing
sports. Chris was always told by his coaches growing up that his
future was in Bodybuilding and power lifting, but it was at the
age of 20, Chris began to give in to the idea and interest of
bodybuilding. Surrounded by all the Bodybuilders in the Ottawa
area, Chris started to learn more about what it has to offer,
not just competitively, but also as a lifestyle and everything
that comes with it.
Given
his innate drive and competitiveness, he began lifting regularly
and training. Diet and exercise became more than a means to improve
his lifestyle, and eventually after the soccer season decided
to solely focus on bodybuilding. His mind was set on following
Arnold's footsteps of being the best of the best as well as unbeatable.
Over
anxious and ambitious with excitement, by the time he was 23 years
old became nationally ranked as the 10th best Bantamweight bodybuilder
in the Nation. He mostly had wins under his belt and has never
placed lower than 3rd in a competition. For Chris had become a
natural poser and entertainer to the crowd. The high and overall
satisfaction of performing for the crowd and fans secured Chris's
love and dedication to bodybuilding. For there's nothing he loves
more than giving the fans a great show, making sure they leave
entertained, remembering the Name: CHRIS J DARBY
Right from the start I knew I didn't want to spend my lifetime
confined to a desk in the workplace. Every job I have ever had
as involved being completely active and mostly outside in some
way or another, whether it was lifeguarding, coaching, or even
a little construction once done. Hard work, yes, but I enjoy being
outside, making my own schedule and staying active.
Although I already had a great muscular build to my physique and
knew how to workout, I didn't quite understand the full aspects
behind it all, that could lead to much bigger, greater, and more
efficient results. I longed for that ripped athletic look, but
had no clue how to truly obtain it. I lifted hard and heavy, ate
a lot of food, but turned out my nutrition was done very poorly
even though to me it was good. Pizza, cheeseburgers, pasta, tons
of protein shakes, etc. All done with good reasoning and obtained
a good metabolism to hold and maintain my look, but bad enough
to keep me from obtaining my true desired look.
It wasn't until I hired a personal trainer and visited a nutritionist
that I ventured down my current path. They taught me the importance
of exercise diversity, clean eating, thus within a few disciplined
months, my body began to transform. I felt amazing! I felt physically
fit and emotionally, I had a true sense of accomplishment and
well being. After my first competition, and coincidentally, my
first win, I realized I had found a path for my life. I decided
I wanted to be an inspiration to others, just as the fitness,
and bodybuilding athletes had been to me for so long.
Take control of your Life! If you're not who you want to be, change
it and be that person you desire! And all you can be and achieve
from it. For the journey won't be easy and you will come across
many obstacles, making it even seem impossible at times, but surround
yourself with your loved ones and with their love and support,
that's all you need! Nothing is predestined: The obstacles of
your past can become the gateways that lead to new beginnings.
Good luck and remember: "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence,
therefore, is not an act but a habit." ~Aristotle
